In the year of 1779, it was introduced to Costa Rica from Ethiopia. The type of coffee was already cultivated in Saudi Arabia. This is high quality of coffee, known as Arabia. In the agriculture sector, it got more importance than other corps in 1829. It exportation gradually increased and it became the major source of foreign revenue. With the time, they achieved the set target along with maintaining of the quality. In 1943, the British became the purchaser of Costa Rica.

San Jose, Heredia, Puntarenas, and Cartago provinces are the main growing areas of Costa Rica. The quality of Costa Rica coffee is that, it is high in quality and high in caffeine content. The price of Costa Rica coffee is very low due the availability of cheap labor, and most of them are immigrants that come from Nicaraguan because of the low employment of Costa Rica and high standard of life. The labor receives little of a basket picked and a good worker can pick 12 baskets per day and cajuela is about 15 lbs of weight.

After picking the berries, the truck is sent to processing plants, and the outer layer is removed after doing some process. Then the beans are laid out in the sun to dry and after this, the leather skin of the bean is removed by machine-rubbing. Then it is packed according the size and shape of the beans.

In the early years, the income is subject to price fluctuations of the production of any crops. Due to the prices fluctuations of coffee in the world, Costa Rica made their great effort to create a coffee retention plan. According to this, Costa Rica sells the coffee in installments with the purpose to ensure price stability.

There are 130,000 large and small farms in the Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, the coffee is sold as brands and it may be possible that the coffee of two brands belong to the same farm. The perfect region in Costa Rica is Tarrazu, because of its best soil and highest altitudes. The atmosphere of the Tarrazu is very suitable for the cultivation of the coffee beans. Costa Rica exports coffee to other countries and get greater foreign revenue and it is a good source of employment. The coffee of Costa Rica is rich in quality and world demand is also going to increase for the coffee of Costa Rica.
