Brazil
It was Francisco de Mello palheta, who introduced coffee in Brazil in 1927 from. Now Brazil is counted as a world’s largest coffee producer. They have specialty in coffee industry. Bourbon, Typica, Caturra, and Mundo Novo are the special types of coffee grown in the states of Brazil.
Brazil export coffee to other countries and ICO and IBC set quotas and give special incentives, who export and import coffee. The producer focused on the volume and neglected the quality. The producers would mix together higher-quality with low-quality. They renamed the coffee as Santos 1, Santos 2, etc. it is the port where the coffee is exported. In the beginning of 90’s the Government of Brazil abolished the quota and protection laws for the coffee and IBC was closed. A new revolution came in how best quality of coffee is produced. With the passage of time the amazing variety of coffee became available in Brazil.
Now it is not pre-blended. We can achieve a richer, bolder, and smoother espresso blend as we wish by roasting them to the required degree. Since the breakdown of IBC and the quota system, its quality is better and its consumption is increased and export is also increased especially to United State.
Today Brazil produces 25% of the world’s supply of coffee. There are three methods in Brazil adapted to process coffee, wet, dry, semi-washed methods. But the mostly used is dry method. The weather of Brazil is appropriate for coffee. The dry-processed is difficult and long time and money was invested by Brazil to develop the new and easy way of doing of drying processed and to prevent fermentation. Wet- process is the new process to remove the layers around the beans. This process give cleaner, brighter and fruiter coffee. But this process is done on small scale.
The method is called pulped natural method. This process has both the properties of dry-process and wet-process. This process is carried out the area where the humidity is low. Brazil has made this process famous in the world. There are three main areas in Brazil which are famous for growing of coffee. Mogiana is famous for its deep richly red soil, the rolling of Sul Minus which is the heart of Brazil coffee and Cerrado. Cerrado is rather new area for growing coffee. It is the most promising place for quality of coffee. This place has clear and dry weather, which is most suitable for coffee production.
