Coffee Country Of Origin
There are many stories related to the history of coffee. One of them is that there was a goatherd. He observed that his goats had become more energetic after eating of berries.
He had discovered that his goats eat bright red berries from a shiny, dark-leafed shrub. He tasted these berries himself and soon he felt extraordinary stimulated and invigorated. He had convinced that he discovered something unique.
Coffee was used for spiritual reasons in the pre-historic. Muslim imam began cultivating the shrubs in their gardens. Arabians used to make wine from the coffee berries. It was known as Qahwah, which is the Arabic word for wine. It was considered the best substitute for wine in spiritual practice due the forbidden of wine.
It is believed that it was for the first time discovered in Yemen. According to the botanical evidence the coffee plant originated on the plateaus of central Ethiopia and Arab traders took the beans from Ethiopia to Yemen around the 6th century AD. But it was using as solid food in Black African. In Arab it was used as medicine but later on special coffee houses were used to serve the coffee and this trend got much popularity in the Arab. In these houses music was played and many people came there for enjoyment. When Europeans came here and tasted the new drink. They back to Europe with the intention to sow the seed of this plant. In this way coffee was introduced to Europe.
In the Europe it first came to Venice from Turkey. Soon the coffee houses were spread throughout the Europe. The Dutch imported the coffee seeds from India. In that time famous blend of Mocha-Java was introduced. In France a tree of coffee was brought to Paris in 1715 from Java.
In 1893 coffee is introduced to Kenya and Tanganyika. In Australia coffee came in the early eighties. And now they also export to other countries like US and Japan.
When coffee came to America, initially it was not appreciated but due the shortage of tea many people began to use coffee as a substitute for tea. With the passage of time the taste for coffee grew during the early nineteenth century.
Now coffee is grown in many parts of the world. The international coffee organization set quotas for importing and exporting coffees. They check the quality of coffee. It is usually served hot. A standard cup of coffee contains 80-140 milligrams of caffeine. In the United States 71% of caffeine is obtained from coffee. It is one of the popular beverages world-wide. Today it is the sixth largest export in term of value.
